Absolutely the Best Baby Feeding Bibs on the Market
Reviewed by: My $.03, Arlington, VA Review Date: 2009-02-26
These are the BEST BABY FEEDING bibs on the market. Nothing else comes close. We have 3 children and over the years we've used maybe 30-40 different bibs (6 or so different styles from maybe a dozen or so different manufactures) and the Baby Bjorn bibs are far and away the best bibs for feeding babies.
Positives:
1) Easy to wash. Food just rinses right off with soap and warm water in seconds without ANY lasting residue
2) Dishwasher safe. This is a huge plus when most other bibs need to go through the laundry for a thorough cleaning.
3) The bottom pocket works exceptionally well. Many bibs have a pocket for catching food that drops, but the problem is that the design prevents the pockets from staying open, so food often just rolls on by. Try it with most plastic bibs on the market. You can pull the pocket open, but as soon as you let go, that pocket flips back up closed. Not so with these bibs. The pocket is molded plastic which is always open and designed to always catch virtually everything that drops. The pocket also can literally hold a cup of water (or formula or spit-up) without leaking (trust me, it will happen eventually).
4) Indestructible. These bibs are made from a soft, smooth, flexible plastic which no amount of chewing or banging or anything will damage. We've had some of ours for 3 years (used by multiple children) and they still look like new. No cracks, chips, scratches or food stains. (One's got some dog teeth marks but even our lab had a hard time making a dent.)
5) Difficult for the child to remove. I won't say it can't be done. My one year old little boy has done it a couple times, but only after pulling with all his might for a prolonged period of time. Usually he tries, gives up and goes back to eating.
6) Coverage - This bib is large and will virtually prevent all baby food and drink from getting on any clothes. The only exceptions being if the child dribbles down their chin and neck and it goes under the top of the bib or if the child grabs the food and places it under the bib on their clothes directly (happens occasionally).
7) No smell - never ever. Virtually every other single type of plastic bib that we've purchased has started to smell sooner or later. The plastic coating cracks a little and water gets in underneath and soon after they start smelling. The smell indicates that mold is growing whether you can see it or not. Washing does little to help since the underlying cloth behind the plastic doesn't dry out. These Baby Bjorn bibs are one piece of molded plastic, not some plastic coating over a cloth, so there's no fabric to smell. The plastic washes/wipes clean.
8) Nothing to swallow - Some of our other plastic bibs - those with plastic coatings over a cloth - start to crack and eventually the plastic coating can chip and peel. Obviously you'd throw those away as soon as you noticed, before any plastic could be ingested, but that's not NEVER a problem with these Baby Bjorn bibs. Being flexible, soft molded plastic they never seem to crack, chip or peel so there's nothing that potentially could be ingested.
9) Long Lasting - As I mentioned earlier, we've had some of these bibs for over 3 years. That's 3 years of constant, daily use by multiple kids, and they still look like new. My eldest used them up until she turned 3. Not necessarily because she needed a bib that last year, but more as a precaution to prevent food/drink spillage on a nice outfit before school or when we were out in restaurants.
10) These bibs are on Parents.com Best Baby Products 2008 list as well as a number of other "best baby products" lists.
Negatives:
1) These are not for infants and only seem to come in one size. Babies under maybe 5 or 6 months will likely be too small for these bibs. My sons started to use them at 6 months, but my petite daughter didn't use them until 8 or 9 months.
2) They are not for teething, catching drool or use during playtime. No way, no how. These bibs are NOT absorbent. Not in any way. These are feeding bibs. They are made out of a soft, smooth, flexible plastic so drool will just roll down and pool in the pocket. If a drooling baby is playing with this bib on and bends over, the drool will just roll right out. Also, the bib is made of a more firm sort of soft plastic, which is great when using it for feeding, but definitely not something you want for playtime as it will get in the baby's way.
3) These bibs take a little getting used to. All of my children resisted these bibs at first because they are a more firm plastic, whereas other bibs are either soft cloth or cheap plastic that acts/feels like cloth. I had to set the tray on our highchair out one extra half inch (one click) to allow room for the bibs pocket between the tray and the baby. Two of my three children cried the first and second days we used these bibs. Since the children were not used to them, they complained. But after a day or so they were OK, and from then on my wife and I were thankful on a daily basis that we had them.
Why such a long review? These are maybe one of the 5 or so baby products that I absolutely love. They've made our lives easier, we give them as gifts, and I think more parents could benefit from knowing how great they are.
can't say anything bad about these
Reviewed by: Stacy T. Hall, NC Review Date: 2007-07-28
These are just the best bibs. They're soft silicone, can be easily rinsed off after a meal and be washed in the dishwasher (top rack) anytime. There're easy to put on and have a hole to hang up to dry. My kids (4 and 2) have been using them since they were solid food fed. This is my second pair of them because the old ones were used so much and my kids had a tendency when they were young to bend the catcher that the bibs had eventually cracked in the catcher. I just hate that they aren't sold everywhere that people had the opportunity to buy them because they are totally awesome. Target used to sell the red and blue ones in the stores but for some reason they stopped. A shame. These are really good bibs.

My one year old loved to rip off his old bibs, plus they had some cloth in them so they took a while to dry, and they had those flip out pockets that sometimes flipped shut. We got sick of that, so decided to be a little more spendy and try these. THey are awesome! No velcro, so the little guy can't rip it off (although sometimes that frustrates him too). They are easy to rinse off and wipe dry, so they are ideal for restaurants. The pocket is big and molded, so it can't sort of glue itself shut when something wet comes along. We honestly should have bought these in the first place. Don't make the same mistake we did... spend less, buy these now instead of the cheapo kind.

I am a mother of 4 children! I wish they had had these bibs from the beginning.
Luckily I get to use it with my baby! It really covers her up, keeps her clean, catches EVERYTHING and she likes to "fish" in the pocket for things she did not mean to drop!
This is one of the best products of the year, if not decade!
My favorite bib, but only for certain ages
Reviewed by: , Review Date: 2008-08-25
We love this bib! It was our favorite bib for our oldest child. In my opinion, it is perfect for ages 15 months+. Before that age, we preferred the bumkins bibs that completely cover the shoulders. Once your baby is old enough that s/he isn't getting food all over, this bib will be perfect for you. Also, your baby needs to be old enough for you to teach them not to rotate this bib around their neck (thereby spilling the contents of the bib). Not a good choice for little babies. We use this bib up to age 3 in our house.

Being a first time mom, we'd been using standard terry cloth type bibs even during solid food feedings. We were accumulating stained bibs despite our best efforts to stain-treat them when I remarked to my husband it'd sure be nice if they made waterproof ones we could just rinse off and reuse. Voila! Not only are the Bumkins Waterproof SuperBibs waterproof and machine washable, they are still soft against baby's skin unlike some of the thicker plastic/rubber bibs out there. They are also generously sized so they will fit our little one's neck as she (rapidly) grows, whereas some of her original terry cloth bibs are already too tight.
The price is a little high for just 3 bibs but they clean up so quickly and easily you may get by with far fewer than traditional cloth bibs. You literally can rinse off the soiled bib under the tap in your kitchen sink, scrunch it up to wring out any water, lay it out and it'll be dry in an hour or less. And they hold up great in a washer and dryer (we wash them along with the rest of our little one's clothing, gentle cycle, and you don't really need to put them in the dryer.)
We love these bibs. They wash up easily and fold up really small for easy packing. They're soft, light, and totally water proof.

Durable, easy-washing, fast-drying bib!
Reviewed by: Elizabeth A. Zapf, Review Date: 2007-06-14
The fabric is thin, but waterproof and durable. It easily replaces Pampers disposable bibs for us. When we use it in a restaurant, I just take it to the bathroom afterwards and wash it with warm water and soap. Then I strap it onto the strap of my diaperbag and it's dry by the time we get home! Or, if the bathroom has an air dryer, it's mostly dry with just one cycle. I fold it in quarters and put it back in the diaper bag - it takes up no room at all.
The pocket was well-designed and stays open, not like the cheap bibs where the width of the pocket equals the width of the bib, and thus is flush against the bib and catches nothing.
The velcro is high quality and I can see it lasting a long time. Having a little girl with long hair, I greatly appreciate the velcro being on the side of the bib. I used to pull hair and velcro hair into the bib when opperating the velcro on our old bibs.
The fabric is not laminate and will not crack. I see this bib lasting us a long, long time. Well worth the extra money.

Get ready to take on everything your child dishes out. The Baby Bjorn Soft Bib has long set the standard for today's bibs. It's ergonomically designed to fit your child's shoulders and arms, and the adjustable neck can be adjusted to perfectly fit your child. The unique catch-all pocket keeps food off the floor and off laps, no matter how "active" your child is at meals. Bib is easy to clean - just rinse and use again!
Note: The Baby Bjorn Soft Bib is easy to clean and is dishwasher-safe, but for added safety, please be careful not to put it close to the dishwasher's heater coil.
Baby Bjorn did it again. The Soft Bib is the very best bib that we have found. We went through alot of bibs (and $) before we found the Soft Bib. I was orignally reluctant to buy the Baby Bjorn because I thought it would be too small, and I thought it was a bit pricey. I therefore bought a cheaper brand of the formed bib, but it's hard plastic edge dug into my son's neck and left red marks. When I finally got the soft bib I was so impressed. Well worth the money.
It is so well designed and durable. It catches EVERYTHING! and is very comfortable for my son. The plastic is very soft and flexible. And it turns out the size was not an issue at all. My son is large for his age (97th percentile), but this bib still fits him just fine at age 2 1/2. And it is a snap to clean. Just rinse under the faucet. If I was designing the perfect bib, this would be it.

I purchased this bib for my son when he was 5 months old and eating solid foods (fruits, veggies and cereal). He is now 7 months old and I'm still using this bib for every meal. It does a good job at keeping my messy guy pretty clean (he still gets his right shoulder pretty messy). His lap is considerably less sloppy because of the design of the pocket. It is really great to be able to wash this bib in the sink with dish soap and water after every meal and have it ready to go for the next one. The cloth bibs I was using before this one didn't keep baby's lap from getting totalled and they created lots of really gross laundry. You can't exactly just toss a carrot-soaked bib into the hamper until you get time to do a load of wash because they will start to grow mold! Anyway, I think this is a great product!

I was initially hesitant to purchase this bib because of the hardness of the plastic, fearing my 15-month old would hate it. While she isn't in love with this bib, she really isn't in love with ANY bib. So, this isn't any better or worse in that department.
What is great about it is that she can't simply rip the bib off her neck like every other bib we have. It catches 90-95% of food that falls from normal eating (food throwing not factored in)! And, it's a breeze to clean up and dries quickly. Plus, cheap plastic bibs from big store chains are $5-6 a piece and will not last nearly as long. So, it's a great value too. We loved it so much that I ordered another one exclusively for the diaper bag!

There's nothing like disposable bibs when you're on the go. It really protects clothing and i use them at home also. I wish there were more than 24 though. I'd buy a pack of 100 if i saw it.
I used these bibs for my son who is now 2 1/2 and I recently bought these for my 8 month old daughter for our trip to Italy. These bibs are extremely useful for plane rides and dining out. It is really nice to not have to worry about being stuck with a dirty bib on the flight or in the airport. However, my daughter rips them off about half the time. With that being said, I would still recommend these for travel and will definitely be using them again for our upcoming travels.

There are just a few products that I think are worth buying "name brand" and these Bumkins bibs are one of them. They are soft, and flexible... and more importantly, launder extremely well!!! No matter how many times you wash them, they don't crack or get nasty. We bought a set for baby #1, and have used them 2 years. I've liked this brand so much, we're buying another set for baby #2 :O) For babies on a liquid diet or for feeding soups, an "absorbent" bib would be a better choice. But these are perfect for solid feeding. Highly recommended!

Here's what we love about these bibs:
- Easy to clean (use a wet paper towel to wipe clean)
- Also machine washable
- Fabric is soft yet waterproof, and also very durable
- The bibs are adjustable (there's about a 2 inch long strip of velcro instead of the one size fits all bibs, allows you to keep the bib as tight or loose as you like
- The colorful designs are easily recognizable, so my son knows that when we put these bibs on, it's time to eat

This was my 2nd bumkins bibs purchase, and these ones are a little bit thicker than the girly 3 pack version we first purchased. Both have their purpose, but really they are the best bibs! So easy to clean, and they actually catch a ton of food (vs. others with catchers that seem to miss food as it falls)
The designs are fun, the bibs are lightweight and easy to wear, and very simple to rinse in the sink. We've been using them daily for a couple of months. It's nice to have 3 so you always have a dry one handy. They catch most of the dribble, though some food chunks don't land in there as they might in a hard, plastic bib.

I didn't like the bibs with pictures and phrases on them because they always clashed with whatever cute outfit I was trying to pull together. So I wanted a neutral, cute, drool catching bib. These fit the bill. The only thing I would change is to put two thin ply terry on either side rather than one thin layer. The bib has one thin layer of terry, then the waterproof liner, then another thin layer of terry. I usually do not turn the bib over and use the other side b/c the wet side cannot hold that much (due to one thin layer) and will just put the wetness on the clothing.
